GIVIT helps thousands of Australians in need every year by providing items, services and vouchers. GIVIT helps people impacted by natural disasters, domestic and family violence or homelessness, First Nations Australians, people living with disability or mental ill-health, and much more.

 

How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Georges River Life Care

Georges River Life Care is a grass roots local community, not for profit, charity organisation that has been in operation in Peakhurst since 2007. Governed by a highly professional, skills-based board, Life care specialises in three main areas:
Family Violence Support

Includes a free legal support clinic and case management for families impacted by Domestic Violence

Emergency Relief

Provides both fresh food and pantryhampers as well as financial assistance and guidance for household bills.

ArtsLife

A positive creative arts program aimed at vulnerable/disadvantaged children, families and adults with disabilities.

Alongside these services, Life Care provides support for families via Parenting programs, Autism Support and Grandparent Support.

All of the services Life Care provides have a unique connection. Life Care has carefully and considerably structured an organisation that goes beyond service provision to meet the needs of the vulnerable people in our community.

Geraldton Flexible Learning Centre

Geraldton Flexible Learning Centre (GFLC) is an alternative education provider (CARE School) for high school aged students who have needs that cannot be met by traditional education models. The young people that attend GFLC come from backgrounds that often include complex trauma, family and domestic violence, drug and alcohol misuse and poverty and as such have often missed out on many of their formative years of schooling. GFLC provides a nurturing environment that empowers young people to have a say in their learning journey and where able makes accommodations to support their diverse needs.

Geraldton Residential College

Boarding at Geraldton Residential College offers your child the opportunity to pursue a good education while living in a regional area. Along with many other students, your child can access the amenities of a regional centre, the beaches of Geraldton, the convenience of living close to their secondary school and a range of recreational and sporting activities.

Some families may have the opportunity for brothers and sisters to board together while they attend secondary school.

Gethsemane Church Incorporated

Gethsemane is a not-for-profit charity whose mission and purpose is to provide relief to hundreds in our culturally diverse community, regardless of cast, creed, ethnicity, nationality, religion, age and gender, 365 days a year. Our charitable services have been widely recognised throughout the State of Victoria, receiving a Victorian Premier’s Volunteer Championship Award for Leadership in December 2019. We provide food, clothing, furniture, mobile showers, laundry services and improve quality of life. We can’t afford to employ helpers so we work strictly on a voluntary basis. We have about 20 volunteers.

We provide employment to people with disabilities within various areas enabling them to receive ongoing stable work.

Gidgegannup Mens Shed Inc

The Gidgegannup Mens Shed ("GMS") is in its infancy, having formed in June 2020 after the local Bushfire Recovery Group recommended its formation to assist community well-being in the aftermath of the 11,000ha Wooroloo/Gidgegannup bushfire in Feb'20 which destroyed 86 houses.

GMS provides training and opportunity for members to work on projects, join in Shed activities and tasks, or just share time, recreation and fellowship with other members. Our purpose is "Enriching the Lives And Enhancing The Wellbeing And Health Of Local Men & Women".
Based in a suburb within the Perth Metropolitan Area our targeted community spans 45kms and a population of 12,515 (2016 census).

We create a Gidgegannup Community Hub - More Than Just a Workshop, engaging our members in unique activities to develop essential skills for the hills lifestyle, enabling members to then provide community services to the broader hills community - especially those impacted by the recent bushfire.

Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund

Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund (GERF) was established in 1978 to provide funds to Gippslanders affected by natural disasters such as bushfire, flood, storm or earthquake. It is a registered charity run by volunteers who have distributed financial relief payments at the time of most immediate need.

Girudala Community Co-op

Indigenous organisation servicing whole of community. Gladstone Central Committee on the Ageing

Gladstone Central Committee on the Ageing owns and operates Port Curtis Place - Senior Citizen Centre, Gladstone Heritage Retirement Village, Dot Horn Place and the Rotary Medical Bus, all operated by a dedicated team of unpaid volunteers. The Senior Citizen Centre also operates a door to door bus service for members to access regular events and to be able to socialise and interact with others. The Accommodation is for people over 50 and is offered at affordable prices plus the added security of community living. The Rotary Medical Bus is a vital service that transports patients to Rockhampton for specialist appointments not available in Gladstone.

Gladstone Region Aboriginal and Islander Community Controlled Health Service (GRAICCHS) t/as Nhulundu Health Service is a not for profit started from humble beginnings, and has grown into a multi-faceted health, aged care and community service provider delivering a myriad of services in Gladstone and surrounding areas.
The service delivers health and community services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and wider community in the Gladstone Regional Council area. Everyday we work directly with marginalised, vulnerable and impoverished individuals and see first hand the issues that they face being able to access services and equipment to meet their needs. On occasions we see clients who need mobility equipment essential to their activities of daily living who cannot source funds from anywhere else for same and are forced to use old and outdated equipment.

Gladstone Seafarers Centre

Human rights and welfare for international seafarers visiting the port of Gladstone. Focused now after COVID on raising the mental health aspect of the Seafarers health through assisting them to come to shore for shore leave and to come to our centre.

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

People living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

Refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

People struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
