How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Pentland State School

Pentland is a small school in a low-socio economic, severely drought stricken community. The area is used for grazing cattle. The school is the hub of the community. Due to little opportunity for employment due to the drought, there is minimal money in the community.

PHP provides benevolent relief to land owners and communities that have been severely affected by drought, fire, or flood.

People Who Care - Starting Over Support (SOS)

Supporting people who have left their lives behind with little or no possessions.

Individuals and families are referred to SOS by refuges, government and non-government agencies, where we can assist in the transition from crisis accommodation by furnishing homes.

Peppercorn Services Incorporated

Peppercorn Services Inc. provides support services to a wide range of people located within the local government areas of the Hawkesbury, Penrith, Blue Mountains, Hornsby, Gosford and the Hills. We care for families, people who are aged and those who experience disadvantage, vulnerability and isolation. Or core services include community transport, centre based meals and social support for seniors, early intervention and prevention support for families, parenting programs and playgroup as well as community capacity building, community readiness and resilience programs, early childhood education and lawn and garden maintenance.

Perinatal Wellbeing Centre

Perinatal Wellbeing Centre is a community based non-government organisation providing support to families in the Australian Capital Territory that are struggling with Perinatal mental health issues.

Permaculture Hawkesbury Valley Inc

We are a permaculture community garden in Wilberforce NSW. We provide a community growing space where the community particulates in growing the food and sharing in the harvests. We teach and role model regenerative and sustainable living.

Perth Homeless Support Group

We are a non for profit charity who assist those people experiencing homelessness. Every Sunday morning we distribute non perishable items to up to 200 people at the Homeless Hub on Moore Street Perth. These include baked beans, Spaghetti, tuna, tinned fruit, muesli bars, up and go, juice boxes, cheese dips, sultanas. Along with these items we have tea and coffee on offer. We also have a team of volunteers who run Our Charity Meals where every Sunday they make fresh sandwiches, baked items, boiled eggs, fresh fruit. One of our volunteers has a clothing distribution as well with all items donated and sorted by her and her team.
At the Moore Street Hub we set up several marquees in such a way that its like a shopping market. We have found that we have struck up a personal relationship with a number of those experiencing homelessness. As we are at the coal face so to speak we have found that our service gives a more community that these people have grown to love and as we have as well.

Perth Inner City Youth Service

PICYS operates a Household Network for homelessness young people aged 16- 25 needing either supported transitional accommodation with case management in shared units managed by a community housing provider, or support in gaining and or retaining other accommodation secured by a young person.
PICYS also runs a psychosocial mental health support service called PILLAR, for young people aged 15 - 18 at entry. PILLAR works closely with other mental health service providers and clinicians focusing on the wellbeing of the young person and engagement in the community.
PICYS works with all young people and also has a keen focus to support young people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Intersex, LGBTI. In 2015/6 nearly 1 in 3 young people PICYS worked with identified as LGBTI.

Pets Of The Homeless

At Pets of the Homeless (POTH), we are committed to help vulnerable people by alleviating the burden of providing essential pet care during times of hardship.

We assist by feeding and providing veterinary care as well as emergency boarding to the animals to help relieve the heartache for those who are unable to care for their pets.

Phillip Island Community and Learning Centre Inc. (PICAL)

We are a registered not-for-profit Neighbourhood House and Learn Local organisation providing a wide range of community services and learning opportunities to support the needs of our community.
PICAL provides a vital service to those experiencing hardship through our emergency food relief program known as the Phil Dixon Emergency Food Relief Pantry. Support is also offered through welfare service referrals, employment services, Women Connect program and a Centrelink agency. The PICAL Community Garden supplies fresh produce to our pantry and has many opportunities for horticulture training, organic vegetable and fruit growing workshops, and local food swaps. Rooms are available to hire by individuals or groups for meetings, training and activities.
PICAL relies on the assistance of our valuable community volunteers. We offer many opportunities for volunteer participation in all aspects of our activities and welcome the involvement of our local community.

Phil's Emporium Op Shop

Phil's Emporium is a not for profit op shop located in Bungendore Village. We also run a Community Food Hub giving away free food to those in need as well as running an additional op shop at a neighbouring village Captains Flat. We support many community events and assist many people who are in need of clothes, financial support, etc. We partner with Bungendore Anglican Church.

Phoenix House Youth Services

Phoenix House Youth Services has a successful 30+ years track-record of working with “at risk” young people (aged 13-24), in the Northern Sydney region. We provided alternative education and training pathways, with wraparound support of case management and counselling, to the most challenged young people, delivering life-changing outcomes.

Our primary target group is “at risk” young people who have been disengaged from education and not in employment. Many of these young people are affected by a number of factors including: family breakdown, drug and or alcohol abuse, mental health issues, domestic violence and homelessness.

Since the transformation of Phoenix House from a homelessness service to a service focusing on education and training four years ago, Phoenix House have achieved significant social impact, as measured through the success in it programs, awards, compliments and recognition.

Pilbara Health Network

Pilbara Health Network provides Allied health and support services, through face to face, group education and telehealth platforms. Where appropriate, clients are supported by an Aboriginal Health Worker and Clinical Care Coordinator who work closely to ensure holistic delivery of services,
Our services include supporting Aboriginal people to navigate the healthcare system and engage with appropriate primary healthcare providers.
We provide individualized allied health services - podiatry, dietetics, diabetes education and physiotherapy.
Regular drop-in clinics and opportunistic interventions are offered as a mode of care as supported by local organizations as we understand that appointment bookings can be a barrier to healthcare for some Aboriginal People.
Regular group education sessions are conducted to provide clients with the necessary knowledge, skills and support to assist in managing their health goals and/or current medical conditions.

Pimpama State Secondary College - Wellbeing

Pimpama Student Wellbeing Services provides counselling, guidance and youth support to disadvantaged students. As part of this service disadvantaged students are provided with snacks/meals.

Domestic and family violence

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

People living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

Refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

People struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.
