Ramingining, a remote Aboriginal community in Northeast Arnhem Land, faces profound challenges as it grapples with the loss of several respected Elders and leaders, and numerous members of the wider community. The Yolngu people, who have long been the heart of this culturally rich community, are deeply affected by this ongoing period of mourning and sorrow. The impact of ongoing sorry business is felt throughout the entire community, making the present year particularly difficult with significant increase of passings.
In this time of grief, we aim to offer a gesture of support and solidarity to the community. We are seeking donations of AFL jerseys and Yapa (sister) skirts (maxi, flow skirts) to provide a tangible reminder of care and unity. These items will be gifted to community members as a way to uplift their spirits and reinforce the message that they are not alone in their sorrow.
