Support for youth at our facility to video call families, easing loneliness and supporting emotional well-being
At our facility, we understand the emotional challenges that young people face when separated from their families, especially when loved ones live 250 km or more away. Many of the youth in our care are with us for extended periods, sometimes up to four months or longer, depending on their individual needs and circumstances. While we currently provide a landline phone for voice calls, we recognize that face-to-face communication through video calls can be a vital way for them to feel more connected, supported, and less isolated.
We are seeking to provide laptop computers to enable these youth to video call their families. This would offer them a more personal and comforting way to stay in touch, helping to alleviate feelings of loneliness and homesickness. By offering this service, we aim to help our young residents feel more emotionally supported while they work through their individual journeys with us.
