Flood-affected family living in Remote Aboriginal Community under economic hardship, affecting overall wellbeing.
We are supporting a family living in a remote Aboriginal Community that was affected in major floods last year. This family devastatingly lost some of their furniture to the damage of the flooding and have been unable to replace these items. On top of this, they are struggling with financial and economic hardship as there is limited work opportunities in the region although they are motivated to work. Access to town is highly limited to get to work, buy groceries or any other basic needs. Accessing basic needs in the community is only available at one small store which is heavily overpriced, leaving little leftover funds.
