Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students need your support over Christmas

We work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who haven’t been attending or engaging in school. We do this by working holistically with students and their families to understand the barriers.

Some of these barriers are intergenerational trauma, financial hardship, Family violence, Mental health issues, Homelessness, loss of income, Covid 19. This has led to a number of families becoming unpaid carers.

Through the support of the program, we’ve seen an increase in school attendance, access to mental health services and other supports the families and students need.

With your generosity the families will have a chance to celebrate Christmas, without the added financial pressure.

Throughout the year, we have received second-hand donations for these young people because their carers cannot afford to purchase new clothes, underwear, or essentials. The rising cost of living, coupled with being on government wages and the rapid growth of the children, means they are missing out on basic necessities. with your support, you are investing in the well-being of our community, ensuring that these young people receive the assistance they desperately need and ensuring they has a wonderful Xmas.
