Base & Mattress - Single
A family of 6, one casually employed, 3 with addictions, 2 with mental health concerns & struggling to engage in learning
There are two parents, one casually employed, tyring to take on as many shifts as possible, one home looking after toddler and 3 older children, aging 13 to 16. Due to mental health concerns (depression & anxiety) & drug addiction they are finding it hard to attend school. The parents engage with their GP & mental health (CAMHS) supports but i is difficult to get the kids to appointments because of lack of transportation/location of providers & having only 1car which the mother uses to get to/from casual work. The children's physiological needs are not always being met at home and one of them is sleeping on a mattress on the floor. The parents try to meet all of the safety needs but are experiencing financial hardship. Because the children are not having these needs met & suffer from poor mental health, they are not attending school so their need for love & belonging is also not being met. I think if we could alleviate some of these barriers, they may be able to get back on track.
