Bicycle
1 Bike, Big Impact
A retired man has been volunteering for a charity for the past 18 months, assisting seriously ill children in regional NSW in accessing city based hospital care. The man lives alone and has little support or financial opportunity.
Volunteering has given him a sense of purpose, a sense of community and ability to feel proud of himself and his daily impact on families in need.
The man usually rides his bike to the charity headquarters to commence his volunteer shifts, he volunteers between 2-3 days per week. However, recently whilst he was on shift, someone stole his bike. The man does not have any other ability to make his way to the charity headquarters without the bike due to transport limitations and financial pressures.
This situation has really impacting this mans mental health due to his isolation and limitations in community access and independence.
