Patient is a young single Mother to a six year old girl. She was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and went through chemotherapy and surgery. She then found out she required further radiation and chemotherapy after surgery which will be for the next six months. She is now recently unemployed, being too physically unwell to work, and is receiving a modest Centrelink pension. She is experiencing severe financial hardship, and has already utilised emergency relief supports through Cancer Council and community organisations.
This resilient young mum is now facing further radiation and chemo that is physically and emotionally demanding, but her main fear is how she will financially afford being off work over the coming months.
