Recipient story

86yo Woman on a pension, awaiting aged care support
Domestic & Family Violence
GIVIT
An 86yo Woman has recently moved into her own home after experiencing homelessness.
She is now requiring support with furniture and other pieces to set up her independent living environment.

We are seeking a donation of a bariatric wheelie walker for an 86yo woman who has recently obtained a tenancy, after experiencing homelessness due to DFV - where her long-term tenancy was impacted.

The woman has now obtained a new tenancy and is living in a senior's residence - renting on a pension. Due to her situation, she has not been able to afford to purchase a new walker and her current walker is both unsafe and unstable to utilise. Unfortunately, she is unable to walk long distances without her walker, and requires this for all tasks when leaving her residence. Including attending essential health appointments, shopping and community access.

Having access to a walker would increase her capacity to visit the community and attend all necessary appointments.
