Working together to help Aussies in need
Since 2021, through GIVIT’s partnership with Endeavour Group, Dan Murphy’s has provided targeted support to Australians facing hardship. This collaboration has raised almost $7 million through customer donations, team contributions, and corporate support, helping communities around Australia.
100% of funds raised through customer donations are used by GIVIT to purchase essential goods and services for people in need.
A cornerstone of this partnership is quarterly National GIVIT Days, during which all Dan Murphy’s stores across Australia host fundraising activities such community barbecues, raffles and donation drives. These events focus on specific causes each quarter, including supporting families during Christmas, assisting those experiencing mental ill-health, supporting those impacted by domestic violence and helping disaster-impacted communities.
The commitment of Dan Murphy’s employees has been instrumental in the success of this initiative, demonstrating a strong dedication to supporting Australians in need.
Through this partnership, Dan Murphy’s and GIVIT continue to make a meaningful impact, ensuring that donations reach those who need them most.

Fresh cut, fresh start
For many of us, a haircut is routine. But for people doing it tough – especially those experiencing homelessness – it can be a rare luxury that brings more than just a new look. Thanks to funds raised by Dan Murphy’s as part of GIVIT’s Homelessness campaign, GIVIT was able to provide essential hairdressing supplies to Milligan Community Learning and Resource Centre, who offer a free hairdressing service for people in need.
“The people that visit our centre that have accessed the free haircuts have ranged from those experiencing homelessness to those that are looking for ways to make ends meet. A free haircut might free up money for groceries, or just be something that has been forgone due to cost. The care and conversation that flow through these sessions are a testament to our hairdressers and their commitment to Milligan’s purpose. People walk away with a spring in their step feeling uplifted, seen and heard. Free haircuts – free of judgement.”
Together, GIVIT and Dan Murphy’s are helping people across Australia feel seen, supported, and a little more like themselves again.
A teen's special night made possible
A loving father living on a disability pension was struggling immensely. With no other options left, his teenage son had to step up and become his father’s carer whilst waiting for additional disability funding to come through.
The son had selflessly been the father's rock throughout the difficult period, and this dad wanted to GIVIT back by making his son’s school formal an experience he wouldn't forget.
Using funds Dan Murphy’s raised, GIVIT purchased this young man a new suit, so that he could have an amazing night with his friends, celebrating the end of his high school journey.
"They were both extremely grateful for the support and his son was over the moon that he could wear something nice and stylish for his formal. His dad was in tears as he wanted so much to give his son a nice send-off. Seeing his son so confident and happy in his suit was an extremely proud moment and he couldn’t thank us enough for helping them both achieve their dream."

Safety for a mum and daughter
Dan Murphy’s fundraising also helped a mother and daughter escaping domestic family violence to set up their new home from scratch. The family faced immense challenges, including isolation due to their culturally and linguistically diverse background, which made accessing support difficult.
Thanks to funds raised by Dan’s, they received everything they needed to set up their new home. This included furniture and household essentials, allowing them to create a safe and comfortable environment. This support not only provided them with the basics but also a sense of stability and safety.
The mother and daughter are now in their happy place. These acts of support are life changing for vulnerable families doing it tough.
"Mum has finally settled in and I visited her last Friday. Her daughter would not get off the bed that was purchased for her using a GIVIT voucher. Her daughter is non-verbal and kept pointing at the bed repeatedly saying ‘bed’. Thank you for all the support you give to our vulnerable clients."
