When life is already hard, a flood can be the straw that broke the camels back. For this usually strong independent single mother, the flood has brought her to tears daily, she is literally living week by week after trying to pay for her damages. She is asking, reluctantly, but desperately, for a pump for her tank that didn't survive the floods. When you rely on tank water a pump is essential.
