Thanks to the ‘thank you’ messages from our charity partners, we know behind each of those 8 million donations is a story. If you’ve donated online through GIVIT, you’ve made each of these stories possible.

Enjoy reading these heart-warming stories from people impacted by domestic violence to natural disasters. Your donations are making real and positive differences in the lives of vulnerable people across Australia. You’ll discover how a single donation, given the smart way, can change a life forever or even save lives.

GIVIT provided a laptop for a family in financial hardship.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

A laptop is much more than a laptop for our family – it is a lifeline to a better future. Now our daughter can keep up with her peers and gain a better education.

Dad and Mum can search for permanent work and more suitable housing.

We are so grateful that we can build a bright future thanks to your generous donation."

Thank you to the GIVIT organisation."

GIVIT provided vouchers for clothing & food for refugees.

"The donated vouchers have made an enormous difference to recently arrived refugees.

Many arrived in the ACT with no winter clothing and struggled to afford essentials like food.

The donor’s very kind and thoughtful gift has provided both practical support and a sense of relief for these clients – they have been able to purchase winter clothing and food that they would not otherwise have been able to afford."

"
Thanks for providing care bags and clothing to mental health units in Melbourne hospitals. We'd love to say a big thank you to you and the GIVIT team for the huge donation of clothing and underwear.

Our team continue to deliver bags and clothing weekly to hospitals and would not be able to do this without donations received through GIVIT."

GIVIT provided baby formula for a new mum in hardship.

"Thank you so much for your donation, the person I support will be absolutely stoked.

A new mum we support was very anxious as her family were financially struggling after the recent floods. She didn't have enough money to do a grocery shop and was in desperate need of baby formula.

GIVIT worked your magic and got her vouchers to her ASAP. I received a call saying that she was so relieved and thankful to the team."

GIVIT provided cooking workshops for vulnerable kids

The youth have absolutely loved it, lining up at the door every afternoon, eager to get cooking. Over 100 meals have been prepared, cooked, and served daily! The kids (and staff!) are learning new skills, and the recipes are such a hit they’re asking for copies to take home.

We are so grateful for this opportunity—thank you, GIVIT, from the Fitzroy Mob."

Wondering how to have impact with GIVIT? Here is 4 common questions answered about how to donate

Where can you donate clothes in your area?

You can donate clothes to charities that support local communities via GIVIT. Unlike other charities, GIVIT is an online platform that provides donations to charities and groups registered with GIVIT. We connect people who want to give to those who need help. Charities across Australia, from women's shelters to youth homelessness services need clothes and furniture.

To discover where you can donate clothes or any household item, in your area, head to our What’s Needed list. To view donations needed in your area use our location filter (pictured below) to select your State or Suburb. Also, use our filter to select how you can deliver your donation if you have a preference.

Once you find a donation, click the GIVIT button and complete our online form with contact details. The charity will receive a notification, review whether your item is right for the person they’re helping and connect with you to organise the donation.

Donating to a request means you’re meeting immediate and genuine need in the community. It also reduces the risk that the charity may not need or have the resources to distribute your donation.

This is one of the reasons charities and community services love GIVIT donations. Read below the impact of giving pre-loved baby items to a Sydney charity via the GIVIT's website.

Today we received a lovely package that is going straight to a client of ours who is in need of clothing for a little girl. Thank you to this lovely donor which posted all the way from Queensland and also thank you to GIVIT for connect us.

How do you make a GIVIT online donation?

GIVIT is an innovative online donation website that is free for charities and donors! 100% of any public donation that GIVIT receives is used to purchase exactly what’s needed for people in need across Australia.

There are three ways you can make an online donation:

  1. Donate funds to a current appeal e.g. First Nations Support or Domestic Violence
  2. FUND a request from one of our charity partners via our What’s Needed list
  3. Offer a physical item; either towards a request or submit offer into our online warehouse for charities to reserve

The requests on our What’s Needed list are submitted by charities registered with GIVIT so you know you’re meeting real, tangible need that will make a big difference for someone doing it tough.

What does donating to a charity via GIVIT mean?

  • you’re giving hope to a mum escaping domestic violence with nothing but her kids on her back
  • helping a refugee family rebuild in a new country
  • providing relief to a family who can’t afford groceries plus new school supplies
  • ensuring a family can recover after losing everything they own in a natural disaster
  • or you're helping any charity registered with GIVIT supporting vulnerable people.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

A physical item donation is not tax-deductible, and we cannot issue tax receipts for them. However, your online donation to any GIVIT appeal is tax-deductible. If you donate online, you will automatically receive a tax receipt via email.

For tax-deductible donations made via direct deposit or cheque, please email us at info@givit.org.au to request a tax receipt. If you donate via direct deposit or cheque, send us an email at info@givit.org.au to request a tax receipt.

Please note that donations of items are not tax-deductible, and we cannot issue tax receipts for them.
