Little Creatures, big impact
A $20,000 donation to celebrate 20 years
Back in November, Little Creatures marked 20 years of operations since opening their Fremantle Brewery in late 2000.
Usually your birthday means receiving presents, but instead they donated $20,000 to GIVIT as part of a weekend of celebrations.
100% of this generous donation went towards GIVIT's COVID-19 Appeal, supporting vulnerable people all over Australia doing it tough due to the pandemic.
Here's how the money was used for exactly what's needed to help everyday Aussies experiencing hardship.
Making a difference in WA
A WA organisation requested a portable air conditioner for a client they were supporting in Perth's western suburbs. The woman in her 60s has advanced breast cancer, lives alone and is on a disability pension. Her treatment means she struggles in Perth's hot summers, and her property doesn't have air conditioning. The support organisation received a new freestanding air conditioner that the woman could take with her into different rooms to keep her comfortable.
A mum was spending four hours on buses and traings to take her 3-year-old son to a Perth hospital each month for treatment on a range of health issues. The tiring public transport trips, combined with the stressful hospital visits, were taking a toll on the little boy. We were able to provide the family's support organisation with a number of Uber vouchers to make the trips a little easier.
Helping people all over Australia
Over on the East Coast, a donation of grocery vouchers to homeless support organisation One Meal meant their Surry Hills branch was able to provide something special to patrons at their Christmas service.
The vouchers went towards Christmas puddings, a leg of ham and vegetables so the organisation could cook a Christmas dinner for the homeless and underprivileged people they support. Patrons also received wrapped Christmas presents to help them feel special during what's often a lonely time for people sleeping rough.
In Tasmania, Multicap received Kmart vouchers for a family they're supporting. Multicap provide respite services for three of the family's children with disabilities. The organisation was requesting vouchers so they could buy the kids some new shoes and clothes.
Up in Far North Queensland, Ravenshoe Community Centre requested and received mobile phones. As the first stop in the area for people experiencing domestic and family violence, the organisation specified mobile phones as the number one item with the potential to help them support the local community and potentially save lives.
The smart way to give
These are just a few of the dozens of stories of people who were helped by this financial donation. Because Little Creatures chose to give the smart way, frontline organisations supporting vulnerable Australians received exactly what was needed, right when they needed it.

After escaping domestic and family violence situations, three Indigenous separate families in South Western Sydney have been given big boosts as they start from scratch. We teamed up with IKEA Marsden Park, using donated funds from generous Aussies to purchase furniture for three houses' worth of full bedroom fit-outs.
