The client, a domestic and family violence survivor, moved into new accommodation several weeks ago. She was advised that the property had received a bond clean and that the carpets had been replaced. After reporting a persistent odour, it was later disclosed that the house had previously been used as a drug manufacturing site.
Her children, aged 1, 3, and 15, are experiencing ongoing eye irritation, burning sensations, and frequent headaches. Their early learning centre has also observed notable behavioural changes, including increased daytime sleeping and withdrawal.
Council has advised that most of the family’s furniture will need to be disposed of. Remaining items cannot be removed until testing is completed, after which the owner may arrange professional cleaning; however, no time-frame has been provided.
The client now has an opportunity to relocate to regional town and begin again, but they will require significant household items for the new property.
