Grocery Voucher - $20

This older woman has faced significant hardship following the 2022 floods. She and her late husband had purchased what they believed would be their forever home only a few years prior; a beautiful older property not considered to be on a floodplain. The floods caused unexpected damage, forcing them to evacuate and stay with friends.

During this time, her husband, who was terminally ill, sadly passed away. His final wish had been to die at home and have his memorial service in their backyard. Due to prolonged flooding, she was unable to fulfil this wish, adding further emotional strain to an already devastating loss.

Now living alone, she has recently been diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease and is gradually losing her vision. She is doing her best to remain independent but is watching her home deteriorate around her while surviving on a very limited pension.
