These experiences, combined with ongoing social disadvantage, led to alcohol and other drug use as a means of coping and survival. She has used her period of incarceration to work on herself, attending counselling to strengthen her life skills.
She has recently been diagnosed with chronic liver disease, a serious condition requiring stability, routine, and consistent support to manage her health. As she prepares for release from prison, she faces a highly vulnerable transition with limited resources and supports. Timely, practical assistance at this critical point is essential to help her establish safety, engage with health and community services, and reduce the risk of returning to homelessness, poor health, or further crisis as she works toward a stable and healthier future.
