This family has been through a lot in a short space of time. After losing everything in the 2022 floods, they’ve been displaced ever since and are now living in temporary pod accommodation. Ongoing disruptions and setbacks have made it really hard to regain a sense of stability or feel settled.
Mum is a sole parent doing her best under very challenging circumstances. She’s living with significant mental health challenges but is actively linking in with supports and working hard to keep things moving forward for her child. With ongoing financial pressure and limited resources, everyday life can feel overwhelming.
Her child has started high school, which is a big transition at the best of times. Without a secure home or consistent routines, it’s been difficult to create the calm, stable environment needed to focus and learn. This family is trying to build a sense of normality, safety, and hope during an uncertain time.
