A single parent family is facing overwhelming financial hardship after a sudden reduction in Centrelink payments. When their son turned 16, his diagnosis no longer met eligibility for carer support, cutting off a vital income. The impact was immediate and devastating.
They are now falling behind on rent and bills, with electricity at risk of disconnection. Car registration is unaffordable, fuel is running out, and soon the children may have no way to get to school. Even basic needs like food, transport and healthcare are becoming impossible to maintain.
With no support network, the parent is carrying everything alone while managing their children’s complex needs. Essential medical care has been prioritised, but at times there is not enough food on the table.
The constant stress, isolation and uncertainty are taking a serious toll. This family urgently needs support to regain stability and rebuild toward a safer future.
