NEEDS ESCALATING ONE WEEK FOLLOWING CATASTROPHIC FLOODS ACROSS NEW SOUTH WALES

30th May 2025: There are almost 2,000 essential goods and services requested on donation platform GIVIT for people devastated by floods across the Mid North and Hunter regions of New South Wales.

Whitegoods, bedding and grocery vouchers are among the most needed items for communities who are still displaced or moving back into damaged homes across the region.

GIVIT has been contracted by the New South Wales Government to manage donations of essential goods and services for people impacted by this event.

Head of Engagement Christina Spehr said GIVIT is working directly with councils, recovery outreach teams, charities and community groups to find out exactly what’s needed by people affected by this disaster.

“There are currently hundreds of uninhabitable homes across this region and with the potential of more wet weather there are a lot of people now at breaking point,” said Christina.

“Please do not take or send unrequested goods into flood impacted areas. This is dangerous and can hamper rescue and recovery efforts.”

“Our message is very clear, if you want to help, please go to GIVIT.org.au to find out exactly what’s needed.”

100% of publicly donated funds to the GIVIT NSW Flood Appeal will be used to purchase essential goods and services for people affected by this disaster. Where possible, GIVIT uses donated funds to purchase items from local providers to support the economic recovery of impacted regions.
